Over the years I have sold and had feedback from my customers for a number of different antifoulings. Many times it happens that one boat owner may have had a good experience with a certain antifouling brand while another not! Here is a small summar…

Club Sailing in Corfu

The last few years have seen some major changes in the club sailing scene of Corfu. It doesn't seem so long ago when there were only two clubs, the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club - Corfu which was part the Athens based HORC and NAOK catering to dinghy sailing. HORC - Corfu evolved into IOK (Corfu Sailing Club) and the two clubs have since been essentially one and the same, sharing members, board and premises. Some years ago NAOK started getting involved in offshore sailing and started their own ra… Continue

Famous Yachting Ports of Call by Kelly Wheeler

With nearly 80 percent of the Earth covered in water, there are plenty of places to explore from the deck of a yacht. From the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, there are breathtaking places to visit around the circumference of our planet. Yachting in the Mediterranean dates back hundreds of years and many towns along this coastline have a rich history of piracy, explorers and riches. Today these areas combine a mix of natural beauty and history with the glamour of modern European luxury to offer… Continue

Maltese Falcon Sailing Mega Yacht

The Maltese Falcon is a clipper sailing luxury yacht owned by American venture capitalist Tom Perkins. It is one of the largest privately-owned sailing yachts in the world at 88 m (290 ft), similar to Royal Huisman's Athena and Lürssen's Eos.

It was built after the Dynaship or Dyna-Rigg concept, a 1960 invention of the German engineer Wilhelm Prölss which was intended to operate commercial freight sailing ships with as few crew as possible. The ship has fifteen square sails (five per mast), sto… Continue

Boathouse Scuttlebutt!

Everyday I am discovering something more about this "thing" works. I am hoping that the "Boathouse Scuttlebutt" network and forum will evolve into something more than just another timewasting cyber-device. Let's face it the majority of social networks with their endless parade of cyber hugs, drinks, kisses, and pointless groups can be a little tiring, to say the least. Obviously keeping in touch with people you like, respect and admire is one of the nicer aspects. During the long winter months w… Continue

Hi Peter, yes it was me, pissed too I'm afraid. Some things don't change. I must say I do like your Facebook type thing. Could work well. We are somewhat restricted in that I use the mobile phone as a modem for the net. It's ok but the reception where we are currently is not very good. Cheap though, 9Euro a month unlimited. How are things with you? We are going to try at some time, when we are able to get the pets looked after, to come to Corfu and do the nostalga thing. We were reading the Ionian pilot last night, sad creatures that we are. I don't know what it's like there for charter, but here on the Midi it's a disaster, with no bookings. Love to all
